The 2011 Twosomes’ Christmas Dinner was held, once again, at Shannondell thanks to the assistance of residents George and Charlotte Meng in making the necessary arrangements. Prior to dinner, Twosome members were invited to attend the presentation of the Nutcracker held in the Shannondell theater. Our own Nancy Foster was a member of the ballet group and Deirde Pearson appeared as the “Maid.”
As always, the elegance of Shannondell, decorated for the holidays, serves as a comfortable backdrop for this annual event. The dining facility is top notch and the food is always “four star” quality.
The afternoon affair culminates with the humorous, individual selection of small, inexpensive, often “re-gifted” gifts. Twosome members are to bring an inexpensive gift for a man and a woman. The woman’s gift is to have a red bow and the man’s gift is to have a green bow. The gifts are placed in two piles. Numbers are drawn and gift selection begins in the order of the numbers drawn, one person at a time. Each person has the option of taking a gift from the pile or claiming a gift someone else had already drawn from the pile. If the latter occurs, that person selects a replacement gift from the pile. The process continues until each participant receives a gift. As you might expect, this can be a very funny and amusing process.
Another successful event coordinated by co-chairs, Barbara Korup and Eva Seeton.
